Designing Yard features with the landscaping tool

The Landscaping Tool in Renovate AI makes it easy to enhance your outdoor space by designing custom yard features. Whether you want to add decorative elements, functional structures, or improve the overall layout, this tool helps you visualize and perfect your yard design before making any changes.

By the end of this guide, you’ll be able to:

  • Identify and map out different areas of your yard.
  • Add and customize features like planters, water fixtures, seating areas, and lighting.
  • Preview and refine your design before saving and sharing it.

Let’s get started!

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Access the Landscaping Tool

  • Open the AI Renovation Kit from your Renovate AI dashboard.
  • Select Landscaping Tool to enter the design interface.

2. Upload or Select Your Image

  • Upload a high-resolution image of your yard or outdoor space.
  • Alternatively, select an existing project from your library.

3. Map Out Yard Zones

  • There are four ways to detect the floor boundaries in the uploaded image.
  • All: The tool will attempt to auto-detect yard boundaries.
  • Only Garden: This tool will detect areas of the image that are gardens already. It is useful if you only want to see how renovating your existing garden will look.
  • Only Pavement: This tool detects only the pavement area of your uploaded image.
  • Set Custom: This is the most flexible option that allows you brush over the areas you want to renovate. The system only then applies your driveway over this selected area.

4. Define Yard Features

  • In the My Template tab, define your preconceived materials in the text box, such as:
  • Planters and Flower Beds: Choose materials like wood, stone, or concrete.
  • Water Features: Add ponds, fountains, or birdbaths.
  • Seating Areas: Include benches, pergolas, or patios.
  • Lighting: Place pathway lights, string lights, or spotlights.

5. Customize Feature Details

  • Adjust the size and placement of each feature to fit your space.
  • Include the materials and colors to match your overall aesthetic.
  • You can describe decorative elements like garden statues, stepping stones, or trellises.

6. Generate and Refine

  • Click Generate to see how your selected features integrate with the existing landscape.
  • Make further adjustments if needed.

7. Save and Export

  • Click Download to export your project to your device for sharing or referencing during your renovation.

Best Practices

  • Create Defined Zones: Use borders, plants, or pathways to clearly define different functional areas.
  • Choose Complementary Materials: Ensure that features blend harmoniously with the existing landscape.
  • Incorporate Lighting: Highlight pathways, seating areas, and focal points for both safety and ambiance.
  • Plan for Maintenance: Choose features that are easy to care for and weather-resistant.

With the Landscaping Tool, designing beautiful and functional yard features is simple and intuitive. Whether you’re creating cozy seating areas, adding decorative planters, or installing water features, this tool empowers you to bring your vision to life.
