Suggested Prompts and Image Editing Tips
The Tell RAI field is a powerful way to re-imagine your space using your own words. But let’s face it, sometimes RAI just doesn’t seem to be listening.
If you’re not getting the results you want, here are some tips.
General Tips
- One edit at a time – try breaking up a long sentence of edits into separate edits
- Simplify verbs – try phrasing your edit in terms of what you want RAI to change, such as, “Change the wall to blue” instead of “Paint the wall blue.” Counterintuitive, but it works!
- Retake the photo – if the lighting is not great, RAI can struggle with that. Also try a different angle, which can also help.
- Consider simple terms – For you pros, RAI may not always understand industry lingo. If “finials” aren’t working, try a layman’s phrase like “ends of the drape rod.”
- Specify the location – Rather than tell RAI to “move the couch,” tell RAI where to move the couch to, “Move the couch under the window” or “Add a wall sconce to the right wall.”
- Try RAI mobile – If you are using Renovate AI on a desktop, and you’re not able to get the results you want, try RAI on a mobile device. We are a mobile-first organization, so our newest features and updates happen on mobile first.
Tips for Busy Rooms
- Remove furniture – If there is a lot going on in a room, try removing items, including furniture. You can tell RAI, “Remove the furniture,” and then make your edits
- Try lasso – the lasso feature (“…” | Lasso) can help you direct RAI to exactly the item you want. For instance, try to lasso a wall sconce and then enter, “Remove” in the Tell RAI field. Note: sometimes saying less is more here – with lasso, “Remove” might work better than “Remove wall sconce.” Give it a shot!
Landscaping Tips
- Add some sunshine – RAI can make it a sunny day – and who doesn’t need more sunshine? Try, “Make it a sunny day.”
- Grass is aways greener – try “Change the grass to a thick, green lawn”
Tips if RAI Makes Unrequested Changes
If RAI changes something you do not want changed, here are some options to try:
- Reduce the number of edits you are trying to make at once, so you are just telling RAI to make a single change
- Try RAI on a mobile device or tablet, rather than on desktop
- Use the Imagination Library – upload an image of the component (material, paint, or furnishing) you want on your mobile device, click the checkmark icon, and enter the location where you want to apply that component.
For example: If you want to change the roofing material on an exterior image of a home, try uploading a screenshot of the material you want to the Imagination Library. Then, in the Tell RAI field, enter “Roof.” For more information see, Editing Images - Adding Custom Components to Your Image.
