Editing Images -- Adding Custom Components (Paint, Materials, Objects)

Renovate AI (RAI) allows you to edit your image by adding the following items/materials or “components,” which you can upload to the Imagination Library and then apply them to your image:

  • Paint – photos of a specific color, a paint swatch or card, like those from a fan deck
  • Materials – flooring (such as tile, hardwood, marble), wall coverings (wallpaper, backsplash tile), countertops, textiles. We sometimes call this feature, “Material Match,” because you can upload the material you want and “match it” or apply it to something in your space.
  • Furnishings – chairs, tables, beds, desks, lighting. Drop that art work you like on your wall, and see if it goes with the vibe of the room.
  • Fixtures, Appliances, Kitchen cabinets, and more – uppers, lowers, islands, fridges… whatever you upload to the Imagination Library, you can add to your space!

To add a custom component to your image:

  1. Take a photo of the component you want to add, such as a paint color or furniture piece.

Tip: Take one photo at a time. For instance, to add three paint swatches, take a separate “close-up” photo of each one. That way, they will be handy to upload in a moment.

  1. From the RAI canvas (the main screen), tap Imagination Library | Materials. A list of sample materials appears.

Note: future versions of RAI will have tabs for different categories, such as those listed above. The current version, consolidates all components into one tab, the Materials tab.

  1. Tap Upload, and select the image you want from your photo library.

  1. If necessary, crop the photo, tap Choose, and name the component something meaningful to you. RAI suggests names too, so feel free to use it or the name you prefer.

Privacy: Don’t worry, the images you upload are only visible by you. If you share RAI with others in a business account, uploaded images will be visible to them too.

  1. Tap Save, and tap the Checkmark button (top right). RAI adds a card for the image you uploaded and returns you to the canvas where a small thumbnail of the component appears in the Imagination Library button itself – we call this “loading” the Imaginary Library button.
  2. In the Tell RAI field, enter where you want to apply the component.

For example:

If you loaded a photo of wallpaper, enter, “left wall” in the Tell RAI field, and click the yellow “Go” arrow. RAI will edit your image, adding the wallpaper to the left wall.

Tip:

If you decide not to apply the component to your image, click Imagination Library | Remove. The image will remain in your Imagination Library (RAI does not delete it from the library).

Direct-Add Tip: If the Imagination Library button is not currently “loaded,” you can apply a component directly from the Tell RAI field, without opening the library. To do this, enter the “@” symbol and start typing the name of the component you want.

For example, if you named that wallpaper “Rubber Ducks” in the Inspiration Library, you can start entering the word, “@rub", and RAI will add the rubber duck wallpaper to the wall you indicate. Very sophisticated choice, BTW!
